Drake has a lot to smile about lately especially with a new album on the way, recently winning his first Grammy for “Take Care”, and repairing a torn relationship with his father.

Drake is featured on the cover of next month’s issue of Billboard Magazine, and the topic is all about being happy an d successful in life & his career. Drizzy gives some insight into his personal life when explaining his relationship with his father – which has been quite turbulent in the past. The two seem to have resolved their differences, considering his old man will be appearing on his upcoming album Nothing Was The Same. Dennis Graham (father) will be featured on a track called “Heat Of The Moment” on the deluxe version of the project.

“My dad is a star, that’s what you have to understand. I can call my dad right now and be like, ‘Yo, dad, I need you to fly to shoot.’ He’s always down. I’m living my dad’s dream. My dad wanted to be a famous singer,” Drake revealed during the cover shoot for the latest issue of XXL. “It’s a real relationship. Not to be ironic, we go through the motions of a father-son relationship. Right now, he happens to be extremely stable and content, and I take care of what I can for him… Like any other family, there have been dark times. There have been other interviews where I was asked about my dad and I didn’t want to talk about it… but at the end of the day, he is a great man and I love him very much.”

Drake seems to be in a good place in general. He’ll appear on the cover of Billboard magazine’s upcoming Fall preview issue, alongside this quote: “I’m 26, I don’t know what else I could be doing better than this. I feel incredible.”

Drake has been very tight-lipped about his upcoming project, and has yet to even reveal a track-listing. In a separate interview with Rolling Stones, Drake & producer Noah “40” Shebib tell the magazine that they are “working 24 hour days to make sure the

is done, front to back, it has to be a new point of discovery.” We respect that. But we’re dying to know more.

The OVO rapper spoke of the differences between his new effort and his last. “With Take Care, everything had changed so much. I was almost lost mentally, looking for something that wasn’t there.” he revealed. “With my new album, it’s the most concise picture of the moment I’m in right now. I had a choice of whether to hold on to whatever the past was or to fight and fully embrace this incredible time in my life.”

Not only will the content be different, but Drake‘s persona has also taken on a new form. “It’s a huge change in tone,” said the rapper. “Before, Drake was a nice guy. Here, he’s stepping up the attitude and playing hardball.”

Later in the interview, Drake dropped a huge detail about the new album.  He insists that the best track hands down from the album was “Paris Morton Music II” (the first you may recognize from being featured in Rick Ross‘ “Aston Martin Music”). “That track excites me from a rap standpoint, just getting off bars and different flows,” he said. “I played it for J. Cole, on some rap buddy-buddy shit, and he was like, ‘Damn!’”

Nothing Was The Same drops September 24th.
