Before he was a rapper, Drake was a prominent TV star that drove the pre-teen/teen generation wild. For seven seasons he played Jimmy Brooks on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” – It was that age group’s equivalent to the more mature MTV show “Real World”.
Back then he went by his government name Aubrey Graham. Since branching into music, Drizzy has climaxed in success and it looks like he’s thinking of utilizing his first talent more often.
Using some of those Jimmy Brooks acting skills in the upcoming movie “Anchorman 2”, and participating in a few sketches while performing on “Saturday Night Live” a few months earlier, Drizzy will be using those acting talents again as he prepares to make another appearance on SNL in 2014. He will host and perform on Saturday Night Live this January after the show returns from its holiday break.
Drake follows in the footsteps of Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga, who have both hosted and performed in the past year on SNL.
Drake’s episode of Saturday Night Live is scheduled for Jan. 18, so have your DVR’s ready.
