Reports indicate that Dwight Howard will sign with the Houston Rockets once the contract is finalized
Dwight Howard initially met with the Lakers, Mavs, Hawks, Rockets, and Warriors but appeared to have narrowed his choices down to the Rockets, Warriors, and Lakers after officially eliminating the Mavericks.
Keep in mind this is Dwight Howard, and things could change, but Yahoo Sports is indicating that he has chosen the Rockets, but terms of the agreement are still being worked on.
– Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) July 5, 2013 (Twitter)Although it’s almost 100% sure Dwight is sticking with the Rockets, there are still a few obstacles with finalizing the contract situation. Dan Fregan, Dwight’s agent, told Yahoo! Sports that “He hopes to finalize his decision [Friday night] or [Saturday] morning.”
Howard is eligible for a four-year, $88 million maximum deal from the Rockets unless they negotiate a sign-and-trade deal with the Lakers. His final hesitancy centered on leaving a fifth guaranteed year and $30 million – which the Lakers can give him – on the negotiating table, sources told Y! Sports.
