After some reports built some hype that Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda would be coming home for the holidays, that hype has all but fizzled out harshly. The “Hot Nigga” rapper will remain behind bars after being denied bail for the sixth time.
Earlier this week, it was reported that his attorneys put together a “bulletproof” plan to post his $2 million bond. As part of the bail package, his aunt offered up four real estate properties as collateral to make up the bond amount.
However, even with all the money, Judge James Burke rejected the package in a sealed proceeding on Thursday (Dec. 3). Now his legal team will have to go back to the drawing board.
The 21-year-old Brooklyn rapper has been in jail for nearly a year for conspiracy to commit murder, multiple weapons possession, and reckless endangerment.
“When I see the judge and the DA, I just see a bunch of people [who are] trying to take my life away for being blessed,” he told Billboard in February. “That’s what I look at when I look at them. It looks like a bunch of haters.”
Shmurda’s next court date is set for Jan. 11, 2016.
