After three seizures in a row over the past several months, Lil’ Wayne’s health has definitely been a topic of discussion. Many were blaming it on the heavy drug consumption, the late nights, and hard partying but according to Weezy himself, stress and overwork triggered the seizures but the overall picture is so much bigger. Calling into Power 106 on March 28th, Wayne spoke on his upcoming new album and his state of health.
“The bad news is I’m an epileptic. I’m prone to seizures. This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad because I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious.”
For those that don’t know, epilepsy is a disorder of the central nervous system characterized by periodic loss of consciousness with or without convulsions/seizures. Medical minds have determined it to be caused by brain damage, but no other explanations.
Wayne describes what happens when he goes into a seizure and how it’s beyond his control. “I go to sleep.. Wake up in the hospital. I hope it stops happening… No warning or nothing. I don’t feel sick.” Scary..
Today, Wayne says he’s healthy and he’s following the doctor’s orders to remain healthy. “I’m good. I’m 100 percent.”
