Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj have gotten themselves into a public disagreement over Nicki’s tweets where she voiced her disapproval over MTV snubbing her hit record “Anaconda” for a Video Music Award nomination for video of the year.

On Tuesday (July 21), the 2015 VMA nominations were announced, with Swift earning a total of nine nods (five in the professional categories), including video of the year for “Bad Blood.” Minaj was also nominated for multiple awards, including Best Female Video and Best Hip-Hop Video for “Anaconda,” but felt slighted by her lack of a video of the year nomination from the music network and held no bars back about it.

“If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,”
Minaj posted to Twitter in the midst of a string of tweets bemoaning the snub. Swift — a slim-bodied woman nominated for video of the year, alongside Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce — took offense at this implication, and replied to Nicki.

Minaj quickly responded, “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @taylorswift13”

What Taylor is missing in the dialogue .. is Taylor. Nicki Minaj never mentioned her name or anyone else so why the personal attack? White media…

Minaj and Swift have previously collaborated onstage during Swift’s Speak Now tour, combining for a live rendition of Nicki’s “Super Bass.” Is this all a misunderstanding between friends, or is there now some, ahem, bad blood between the two? We think not. Taylor Swift needs to stay in her lane & let Nicki vent about his video missing out on an award it did deserve to be recognized for.

I guess Taylor forgot what it felt like when someone (cough, Kanye, cough) snubbed her moment.

Minaj also put in one last word, making a comparison between the two artists’ relationships with streaming services & how the racism is clearly alive within the music industry as they tried to make her the bully in the whole manner:
