After running through his extensive catalog of hits, the A$AP leader decided to surprise those in attendance by bringing out Schoolboy Q & Kanye West to help close out the show. With Q coming out to perform their collab “Electric Body,” Rocky later brought Yeezy to briefly perform his Life Of Pablo cut “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1.”
Despite the A-list cameos, Rocky received some criticis with some blogs calling the set “disastrous” performance, noting lateness and technical issues. After saying that his microphone was off and Kanye performing most of his song in utter silence due to mic issues, Rocky abruptly ended his set by saying: “Fuck this shit. Thank you, Coachella. I’m out this bitch.”
This is the second year in a row Kanye has made a surprise appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Concertgoers went wild as Rocky introduced West as “a f*cking legend.” Unfortunately, the Indio crowd didn’t hear the majority of West’s rhymes as his mic kept cutting in and out before going out entirely.
West had a chance to redeem his mic cutting out, as he returned to the same stage later that night with Jack Ü, who followed A$AP Rocky, but West merely stood and clapped while “Power” played during the DJ duo’s set following the introductory guest verse of his single “Send It Up.”
