When reports hit the media that NFL running back Ray Rice and his fiancee, Janay Palmer got into a physical altercation inside an Atlantic City Casino last week, many raised eyebrows. There’d never been any past incidents, so this one was quite the shocker.
That Saturday night, the NFL running back and his fiancee were arrested in Atlantic City, New Jersey after an altercation that resulted in “minor physical injuries.” Clearly things were a lot worse than anyone suspected.
Video surfaced Wednesday morning of the former Super Bowl champ dragging his unconscious girlfriend out of the casino elevator prior to the arrest discussed earlier on. The footage, obtained by TMZ, shows Rice attempting to pick up his fiancée, who was seemingly lifeless.
The video also shows a bystander approaching Rice, presumably casino security, looking noticeably alarmed that there was a woman lying shoe-less on the ground, face-down, and a 215 pound man struggling to lift her. Law enforcement was called shortly after.
A rep for Rice released a statement prior to the video surfacing:
“We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancée. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”
Uh.. that doesn’t tell us much other than they’re bailed out of jail. How about answering the question on why Palmer was knocked out cold in the elevator to begin with, and why the fight broke out shortly after. We want answers people!
