Mrs. Oprah ain’t got the time to be bothered about no Paula Deen business!
Paula Deen, a popular Southern cooking chef for the stars & The Food Network was involved in a controversy earlier this summer for using the “N-word”. Many companies have dropped her name, products, and any other affiliations with Deen, and many eyes have turned to the big lady O to see what she has to say about this.
During an interview with Oprah where she talks about diving back into acting, and her role in the upcoming movie “The Butler”, the interviewer (A.J. Calloway) asked what she said to say about Paula Deen using the “N-word”, and Oprah said this in response:“Everyone’s saying, ‘What do you think of Paula Deen!’ Oh my god! I don’t have anything to do with Paula Deen. She is not the first white lady to use the ‘n’ word! Good lord!”.
Don’t get it twisted though – Lady O is not giving Paula a PASS for using this offensive word, but she’s not going to bend herself out of shape over it. Just like any smart businesswoman & woman with class, Oprah will simply just separate herself from Paula, although they’ve worked together in the past whenever Paula was on Oprah’s show. “You cannot be my friend and use that word around me. It shows my age, but I feel strongly about it…I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last word as they were hanging from a tree..” she told Parade magazine earlier last month when asked about the term & how she feels when people use it.
