The trailer for Annie is finally here and it’s giving us serious flashbacks of our younger years, as we see the Oscar-nominated Quvenzhané Wallis showing off those acting chops as a modern day orphan Annie. Although the original version had Daddy Warbucks as a billionaire business man, the 2014 version stars Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks, a super-rich mayoral candidate looking to soften up his image. Cameron Diaz rounds out the A-list cast as the mean Miss Hannigan.
On the music side, producer Jay Z gives fan favorites “Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow” a modern day upgrade, adding a little bit of flavor to the classics.
In 2012, Quvenzhané burst through the industry when she played Hushpuppy in Beast of the Southern Wild and this is her first major role since then. So far, she’s banked a total of $750,000 to play the part, and if the movie makes at least $145 million at the box office, she’ll double her salary, making her an instant millionaire. Must be nice..
