Delta Flight To New York Cancelled After Crew Employee ARRESTED

A crew member’s arrest led to the cancellation of a Delta flight. The flight, scheduled to transport passengers from Edinburgh, Scotland, to New York City on Friday, was abruptly canceled before takeoff. Passengers were provided alternative arrangements after the cancellation occurred.

Mateusz Maszczynski, an airline worker who maintains a blog for fellow employees, reported that the arrested individual was the pilot of the aircraft.

According to Maszczynski, the crew member was charged under the Railways and Transport Safety Act of 2003, which includes regulations on alcohol consumption limits for crew members. Although the spokesperson did not provide an explanation for the arrest, they did mention that Delta has a stringent alcohol policy and has a zero-tolerance stance on violations.

As per the regulations outlined in the Railways and Transport Safety Act, airline crew members are legally restricted to a blood-alcohol limit of 20 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. In contrast, the blood-alcohol limit for driving a car in Scotland is set at 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood.

Maszczynski added that being “over the prescribed limit” can result in a maximum penalty of a two-year jail sentence for the guilty party.

Overall, although some may view this as a negative thing to happen. Both police and Delta should be commended to apprehending the individual. This is not a good thing for the company image, but it’s much better to be safe than sorry.
