Officers from the Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire, along with personnel from the University and City of Fairbanks Fire Departments, attended to a fire at the Budget Rent-A-Car detail shop on Monday afternoon.

The fire alert was first received by the Fairbanks International Airport Communications Center around 3:38 p.m., prompting an immediate response from firefighters to extinguish the fire.

At the time of the incident, the building was unoccupied, and there have been no reported injuries. The structure, property of Fairbanks International Airport and leased to Budget Rent-a-Car, has been completely destroyed by the fire. This building functioned as a detail shop for Budget Rent-A-Car, though their primary office located on Cushman Street remains operational during regular business hours.

The fire did not affect air operations at the airport.

Firefighters have advised the public to steer clear of the charred building and surrounding area due to potential chemical hazards that have not yet been confirmed.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, and the Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire Department is expected to provide further information as it becomes available.
