Last week, a New York City taxi driver fell victim to a horrifying attack on a busy Midtown Manhattan street. The incident, which was captured on camera, involved a group of five individuals assaulting the 60-year-old cabbie in a vicious manner.

The distressing footage reveals three women and two men repeatedly striking the driver with closed fists and shoes near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and W. 34th Street on July 19. Despite the driver’s attempts to evade the blows and protect himself, the attackers relentlessly pummeled him. At one point, he was knocked off balance and ended up slumping along the side of his cab. A woman in the group struck him several more times and even kicked him in the chest, as seen in the video.

Throughout the attack, onlookers observed without intervening to help the victim. Eventually, one of the men pulled the woman away from the driver before the clip ended.

Following the incident, the cabbie was taken by ambulance to New York University Hospital in stable condition.

It was revealed that an argument between the cab driver and the group of individuals had sparked the brutal beatdown. Two of the suspects, identified as 35-year-old Howard Colley and 51-year-old Natalie Morgan from Brooklyn, were arrested at the scene. Colley faced charges of assault for allegedly punching the cabbie’s face, while Morgan was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging the cab’s right side view mirror.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police are actively seeking justice for the victim. The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers has strongly condemned the attack and demanded the arrest of all the individuals involved. Fernando Mateo, the spokesperson for NYSFTD, emphasized that such acts of violence against taxi drivers must come to an end. He pointed out a previous incident where another NYC taxi driver, Kutin Gyimah, aged 52, had tragically lost his life in a similar assault in Queens the previous year.
