Matt Harvey, the former New York Mets standout, aged 34, departed from his baseball career to pursue a new professional path, which reportedly resulted in the dissolution of his romantic relationship with model girlfriend, Monika Clarke. While there are always two sides of a story when a relationship ends, the timing of the break up does seem strange.

During this summer, Harvey, having concluded his tenure in MLB, embarked on a fresh journey by assuming the role of managing director at a prominent commercial real estate enterprise named Newmark in New York.

Harvey and Clarke, who commenced their romantic involvement in the spring, had been notably inseparable throughout their relationship’s initial stages.

However, reports indicate that Harvey’s all-consuming commitment to his novel professional endeavor took precedence, leading to the ultimate unraveling of their bond. According to sources cited by PageSix, “The dissolution of their relationship can be attributed to his overwhelming preoccupation with his newfound occupation.”

Although the two individuals had a longstanding acquaintance, their romantic liaison spanned only a few months. Clarke holds a position at Scott Sartiano’s exclusive members-only establishment in Noho, thereby indicating that their paths may still cross since Harvey frequents the club as a regular guest. Within the establishment, Clarke serves as the head of membership.

It’s noteworthy that this occurrence is not the first instance of a model-related breakup for the former MLB luminary. He has previously been romantically involved with renowned figures such as Adriana Lima, Victoria’s Secret Angel Devon Windsor, and Sports Illustrated model Anne V.

Harvey’s baseball journey extended across ten seasons, encompassing five different teams. Notably selected in the first round of the 2010 draft by the Mets, he bid adieu to professional play in 2021. This departure followed a 60-game suspension subsequent to his testimony within an investigation concerning the drug-related passing of his former Los Angeles Angels teammate, Tyler Skaggs. Harvey admitted to providing opioids, a prohibited substance, to the said Angels pitcher.
