NYC Subway Cell Phone Thief Still At Large

The NYPD have released surveillance footage of an individual wanted in connection with three similar cell phone robberies that occurred within a 30-day period. The robber has been specifically targeting women in Times Square and Rockefeller Center. As with all crimes like this, there are likely many more incidents, however, only 3 cell phone thefts have been reported to the authorities.

The initial incident transpired at the Union Square Subway Station. On June 12, at approximately 1 pm, a 34-year-old woman was engrossed in her phone while inside the subway station when a man swiftly approached her and forcibly snatched her cell phone. On this occasion, the thief swiftly fled the scene, leaving the victim unharmed.

On June 26, around 12:30 pm, a 25-year-old woman was inside the Rockefeller Center Subway Station when a man suddenly rushed towards her and forcefully seized her cell phone.

Once again, the thief quickly escaped, and the victim did not sustain any injuries.

The third incident occurred on July 3 at approximately 4 pm, within the 42nd Street subway station. A 35-year-old woman was using her phone when the thief swiftly approached her and forcibly grabbed her phone from her hands. Like in the previous cases, the thief rapidly fled the scene, and the victim did not suffer any injuries.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion and a slim build. During the incidents, he was seen wearing a gray jogging suit with black lines, featuring the “Nike” logo in the center. He was also observed wearing black and white sneakers and a surgical mask in order to conceal his identity.
