A warrant for Chad Michael Busto’s arrest, the individual accused of stalking Drew Barrymore in recent weeks, has been issued by a judge.

Busto failed to comply with the court’s order to wear a GPS monitor, leading to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest, as reported by Heather Drapal, Clerk of Southampton Town Justice Court, in a statement to TMZ.

The sequence of events began when he abruptly approached the stage at New York City’s 92nd St Y on August 21, where Drew Barrymore was engaged in a conversation with Reneé Rapp regarding her new album.

Maintaining her composure, the singer took charge of the situation when Busto announced himself, stating to Barrymore, “You are aware of who I am. I must see you while I’m here in New York.” Security personnel promptly escorted him out of the venue, with Rapp ensuring the safety of the Ever After star.

Although the incident did not result in a police intervention at the time, Busto was subsequently arraigned in Long Island just days later. He had been going door-to-door in the actress’ Hamptons neighborhood, inquiring about her residence from other residents. He pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor stalking charge and was released without bail.

Busto informed reporters as he left the court that he had been issued a restraining order to stay away from the actress.

Before the issuance of the new warrant, he was scheduled to return to court on September 12, intending to represent himself. It remains uncertain whether this court date will be altered due to the new charge.
