Haunted House Attraction Set To Open Up In Times Square

+ posts

Times Square is already a daunting place for many, with its disheveled Elmo characters and pungent, zombie-like crowds. However, as of this month, it’s set to become even more spine-chilling.

Commencing on September 14, “Horrorwood Studios” will unlock its eerie doors in Times Square, precisely at 300 West 43rd Street. This marks the beginning of a hair-raising immersive experience season orchestrated by artistic directors Will Munro and Katie McGeoch, a dynamic duo with over two decades of experience as the creative minds behind Six Flags’ Fright Fest. This spine-tingling endeavor, named “TerrorVision – Live Screaming Your Nightmares,” will plunge participants into the unsettling world of their Samara-esque dreams, as they step through a flickering TV screen into a nightmarish tableau.

Spanning an impressive 20,000 square feet and boasting a cast of 140 actors, it could well be New York City’s most extensive haunted house. Guests will be led to believe they are backstage during the filming of an upcoming TerrorVision Halloween episode. However, when things take a horrific turn for the worse, the screen shatters, and visitors find themselves unwittingly thrust into the spotlight as the new, terrified stars. They will be compelled to confront three tales of terror, each transformed into an immersive walkthrough experience akin to a haunted house, replete with gruesome creatures and cinematic special effects.

Executive Producer Dalton M. Dale emphasizes that they have recruited the top makeup and special effects artists from Hollywood to metamorphose the cast into nightly incarnations of terrifying beings.

This promises to be an intense experience. Organizers suggest that the space will feature elements such as snow, wind, colossal creatures, and a constant array of seemingly impossible effects unfolding all around in this nightmarish realm. One might ponder whether Times Square truly required such an addition.

And if there’s any uncertainty about whether this will be the most frightening attraction of the year, it’s worth noting that the production made its debut last year as NYC’s largest haunted house, “BEDLAM,” at the former Ripley’s Believe It or Not venue. It garnered over 20,000 ticket sales and ran for a spine-chilling 19 days.

Tickets, priced at $39 per person, can be purchased at facetheterror.com, with early bird discounts available until September 19. However, it’s crucial to note that this experience is not suitable for children aged 13 and under – it’s strictly for the bravest of souls.
