A New Jersey man recently found himself in legal trouble after he was apprehended using a license plate flipping device in an attempt to evade toll payments in the Tristate area.

The individual in question, identified as Adam Jimenez, is now facing multiple charges for installing a license plate flipping device that enabled him to avoid tolls on the George Washington Bridge (GWB) last week.

The George Washington Bridge, according to the Port Authority of New York, has varying toll fees ranging from $12.75 to $14.75 for E-ZPass holders, depending on the time of day, and $17 for vehicles passing through the plaza without an E-ZPass.

The incident occurred when Jimenez drove through the GWB toll plaza in Fort Lee, New Jersey, on Friday, September 22. The charges filed against him include theft of service, tampering with public records, possession of burglar’s tools, and possession of fraudulent documents, as confirmed by Lenis Valens, a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York.

Additionally, Jimenez received summonses from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police for various infractions, including unclear license plates, counterfeiting or using other markers, and failure to present documents.

Notably, this is not the first time Jimenez has allegedly attempted to avoid toll payments using his license plate flipping device. In February, he was arrested after being accused of concealing his license plate with a remote-controlled electronic curtain.

Authorities are currently investigating the extent of Jimenez’s alleged attempts to shield his license plate while passing through toll booths or plazas using the flipping device or other methods.
