Two individuals were arrested following an incident on Thursday, Aug. 3, around 7:15 p.m., at the Walgreens located in Eastchester, 370 White Plains Rd. According to Eastchester Police, the suspects entered the store and stole over-the-counter medications valued at approximately $5,000.

After the theft, the pair fled the scene in a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The New York City Police Department, in collaboration with the Westchester Real Time Crime Center, swiftly located the vehicle, leading to their apprehension.

Subsequent investigations revealed that, besides the stolen medication from Walgreens, the duo was found in possession of about $8,000 worth of other medications, suspected to have been stolen from other pharmacies in various locations.

The suspects have been identified as Velvet Jefferson and Ernesto Serrano, both of whom face charges of third-degree grand larceny. Additionally, Serrano faces an additional charge of false personation after providing law enforcement officers with a fake name and date of birth.

Further inquiries into Serrano’s true identity unveiled that he had an active bench warrant from Kings County for various other charges, including attempted murder, assault, and weapons possession.

Following their arrest, both Jefferson and Serrano were remanded to Westchester County Jail.
